Today brought a bright spot to an otherwise sucky week. Wendy had arranged for several of us to go to brunch at Emily's Bed and Breakfast in Lattimer Mines. The house is decorated beautifully with Victorian flair. We arrived and were greeted at the door by a wonderful woman who took our coats and guided us to the living room/dining room area.
We sat down on the luxurious furniture in front of about 4 big picture windows which gave us a beautiful view of the side yard. In the yard was a big tree, and several bird feeders which has lots of birds enjoying lunch. The snow lined the yard and the trees. It was so peaceful to enjoy good company and watch the birds.
As we sat there, the aroma of the food began to infiltrate the area and make us all hungry. We sat down and made a toast to "Littlefoot" (Wendy's dog who passed away earlier this week.) and then dug into the wonderful food. There was quiche, asparagus wrapped in ham, chicken salad sandwiches, ham salad sandwiches, crackers and cucumber dip, shrimp croissants, and a fruit plate with dip. For desert, there was a lemon tart, cranberry scones, and lemon, poppyseed bread.
I can't think of a better way to spend a cold, wintry, Saturday afternoon. Thanks, Wendy!
