New Year, New Thankful Attitude!

Happy 2014!  This first day of this wonderful new year was pretty relaxing.  I originally woke up when my 6:30am alarm went off, but being of sound mind, I quickly went back to sleep.  The secondary wake up occurred at 9:36am.  Still, I was feeling like more sleep was in order.  The third and final wake up came at 11:09 in which I jumped out of bed thinking I missed the Rose parade.  Luckily, after living on the east coast for 35 years, I remembered that the parade starts at 11am in PA, not the 8am in CA.  I headed downstairs and quickly took over control of the TV and had to explain the importance of the watching of the annual Rose parade.  Today, I added seeing the Rose parade in person to my bucket list.

After the parade, I was informed of the full day of football games planned to be shown on my TV.  So.....  I went shopping!  I had some things to return and of course some things to buy in their place.  It was a good time except for the lady at Michael's.  Have you ever had an occasion so annoying that you forget to be polite because you just can understand it?  Well, this was one of those times.  I was polite but not happy.  I had a skein of yarn that I wanted to exchange for a different color.  I want to trade one color for another of the exact same yarn.  I explain I just want to change colors.  She proceeds to give me a credit gift card.  I ask if they will be the same price for me to exchange one color for the next?  She explains that it depends on what price the yarn is today.  For the life of me, I could not understand if I return one skein of yarn and get $3 credit, why I need to pay $3.99 for the same yarn in a different color!!!  She kept saying it's because I don't have a receipt.  I wasn't asking for cash!  I wanted the same stuff.  Both the color I was returning and the color I was buying were selling for the same price, however, it was going to cost me $0.99 if I exchange one for the other.  So, I did the logical thing after butting heads with this woman who finally ended the disagreement with the statement "I don't know what to tell ya!".  I took my skein of yarn with me and will return with a receipt and then see what the reasoning will be then.  I'm hopeful that I will get a more reasonable cashier the next time.  WHEW!  That was a rant.  So sorry!

After getting home from the shopping trip, I pulled out my computer to play some online games of cribbage.  Now that was a pleasant experience.  I played about 10 games and didn't lose one!  That hardly ever happens, especially with random partners.

Now it's about time for bed.  The new alarm clock will sound early tomorrow so I need to get some sleep.  Before I go, here is my list of 5 things I am thankful for today:

1.  I am thankful for the day off.

2.  I am thankful that snow is expected tomorrow.

3.  I am thankful that I was able to buy colored jeans today for $11

4.  I am thankful that Corey tells me he loves me every day about 15 times.

5.  I am thankful that Jack doesn't go back to work until next Thursday and can spend more time with us.

Until tomorrow, be thankful and watch the world become your oyster.
